Ahead of the Pack, GRIMM Creeps Back, August 13 on CTV

Toronto, ON (July 20, 2012) – Blutbaden, Reapers and Grimms, the next chapter begins! Following the London 2012 Olympic Games, the summer’s biggest TV event, the highly anticipated second season of CTV’s hit “fairytale” procedural drama GRIMM returns for its sophomore season in a special summertime timeslot of Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, beginning August 13 on CTV for four weeks (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). As a break-out fan favourite, GRIMM finished the 2011/2012 television season as one of Canada’s top new dramas with A25-54 and A18-49, second only to CTV’s ONCE UPON A TIME. New to the upcoming season are James Frain (TRUE BLOOD, THE TUDORS) in a recurring role as the brother of Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) and Mark Pellegrino (LOST, SUPERNATURAL) who guest stars as Jarold Kempher, one of Hank’s (Russell Hornsby) high school buddies.

Packed with chills and revelations, GRIMM then moves back to its regular Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, beginning Friday, Sept. 14 on CTV. Encore presentations of new episodes of GRIMM can be seen Sundays at 9 p.m. ET beginning August 19 on SPACE. Additional premiere dates for CTV’s fall lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

New episodes of GRIMM will also be available across CTV’s digital platforms following their television broadcast on CTV.ca, the CTV App, CTV Mobile on Bell Mobile TV, and through video on demand partners, such as Bell Fibe TV.

Last season, viewers were left with Nick (David Giuntoli) delving deeper into his life as a Grimm, as a trail of grotesque murders reignited the search for the elusive gold coins. Meanwhile, Nick's relationship with Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) came to a tipping point when he told her the true nature of his secret.

In the Season 2 premiere of GRIMM (Monday, August 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV), Mark Pellegrino guest stars as one of Hank’s high school buddies whose daughter goes missing. Hank doesn’t know, though, that his old pal is also a coyotl, or coyote-like creature.

GRIMM is inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales. Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, TURN THE BEAT AROUND) discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. As he tries to hide the dangers of his new found calling from his girlfriend Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch, QUARTERLIFE), and his partner Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby, LINCOLN HEIGHTS), he becomes ever more entrenched in the ancient rivalries and alliances of the Grimm world.

GRIMM is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production. The series was created by Stephen Carpenter and David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf. Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner (HOT IN CLEVELAND) and Norberto Barba (LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT) also serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf.
