Additional Performance Details and First Group of Presenters Announced for CTV’s Broadcast of THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS, April 1

Toronto, ON (March 22, 2012) – CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) confirmed today that global phenomenon K’NAAN will join previously announced performer Simple Plan on THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS broadcast, Sunday, April 1. K’NAAN will join 2012 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award recipients Simple Plan on their song “Summer Paradise.” It was also announced today that JUNO Award-winning artist Lights and JUNO Award-nominated producer, songwriter, vocalist and house music DJ MC Flipside will join previously announced performer deadmau5 on THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS stage. deadmau5, the three-time 2012 JUNO Award nominee and electronic artist, will perform “Hi Friend”, featuring MC Flipside, and “Raise Your Weapon”, featuring Lights.

CTV and CARAS also announced today the first group of presenters for THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS broadcast, hosted by legendary Canadian, William Shatner. The country’s preeminent awards broadcast airs from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa LIVE at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. AT in Ontario, Québec and Atlantic Canada; at 8 p.m. in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; and at 9 p.m. in Alberta.

The first group of presenters confirmed for THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS broadcast is:

• Two-time Olympic silver medalist, diver Alexandre Despatie
• Members of metal band Anvil: Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner
• East Coast Hip Hop MC, Classified
• Indie folk-rocker and multiple nominee, Dan Mangan
• Star of Bravo!/CTV drama THE BORGIAS, Francois Arnaud
• Olympian and two-time World Championship medalist, diver Jennifer Abel
• Acclaimed multi-platinum soulful artist, Johnny Reid
• Sultry R&B singer-songwriter, Jully Black
• Four-time JUNO Award winner and Canada’s “hip-hop ambassador,” Kardinal Offishall
• Revered singer-songwriter, Ron Sexsmith
• Six-time JUNO Award-winning artist, Sam Roberts
• Nine-time JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter, Sarah McLachlan

The Canadian artists set to perform throughout the star-studded broadcast on CTV include: Blue Rodeo, City and Colour, deadmau5, Feist, Hedley, Hey Rosetta!, K’NAAN, Lights, MC Flipside, Nickelback and Simple Plan. This year marks the eleventh year in a row that THE JUNO AWARDS will air on CTV, the Official Broadcast partner of the JUNO Awards.
